Rector's Message
It seems that every time I write a message, I am on my way off to see the world. When you take your vacation in bits and pieces the way I do, the pieces always seem to be corning up. You probably miss me less than if I took a complete month off.
It seems strange to be taking a vacation to the Caribbean at a time when there could still be hurricanes and when the money markets are so volatile. I know that many of us are worried about our future and money. I am no exception a most of my retirement lies in the hands of the financial gurus and institutions of this country. There are times when you just have to put yourself in God's hands and go for it. God promises to look after us and at this time of Harvest Thanksgiving with the bounty of the earth, just staring us in the face, how can we be worried. It is a time to be optimistic and delight in the world around us, as it bursts into colour.
This Church Mouse takes us to Vestry, so there are many things happening between now and February 1, 2009 is the 150th anniversary of the parish.
In my research, Rev'd Curran carne to Bruce County to be the Rector of Southampton, Port Elgin and South Bruce.
There were no churches in the area, and Southampton decided to build in 1859. Stay tuned for the events around our anniversary celebrations.
Advent, our time of preparation for the coming of our Lord starts at the end of November.
We also have Christmas and Epiphany, special occasions for our church family.
I have noted that some people forget that we have a joint service on the first Sunday of the month, from September to June. I try to make those services special and memorable, so we should be able to remember the dates. Put the first Sunday of the month on your calendar as a special event.
The Reverened Margaret Greenhow,
Your Rector and Priest
